Metamorphosis is Marvol Gallery’s annual graduate exhibition, celebrating the power of transformation in people, materials, and creative processes. This year, we explore how the ordinary becomes extraordinary—how clay turns to gold, stone to light, the everyday to the unexpected, and the discarded to the precious.

Each of our featured artists harnesses materiality to shift perceptions of value, identity, and beauty in profound ways.

Beyond the transformation of materials and ideas, this exhibition also highlights a parallel evolution within the artists themselves. Here, we witness the early stages of lifelong creative journeys—the seed and sapling of artistic practice, full of promise and potential.

As part of Marvol Gallery’s ongoing commitment to supporting emerging talent, Metamorphosis introduces a selection of recent graduates from Ruth Prowse, Stellenbosch University, and the Michaelis School of Fine Art.
